On a recent trip to Israel, members of the Make A Difference Foundation had the incredible honor of supporting the courageous warriors of the Yalom Unit—the elite group responsible for investigating and fighting within the tunnels deep underground. These tunnels, often dug by Hamas and Hezbollah, can reach depths of 80 yards and extend over 600 yards in length.
Touring the Practice Tunnels
As part of this experience, the group was given an exclusive tour of the practice tunnels, where IDF warriors train for combat in these underground environments. These tunnels are small, wet, and extremely uncomfortable to move around in, let alone fight.
The Yalom warriors explained how they navigate these tight spaces, battle adversaries, and complete their missions with precision and bravery. The tour offered a unique perspective on the intense conditions these soldiers endure and the incredible resilience they demonstrate.
Field Lectures and Confiscated Combat Arms
The group also participated in field lectures, learning about the ongoing battles in both the South and the North. They were shown confiscated weapons seized from Hamas in the South and Hizbollah in the North, underscoring the reality and intensity of the threats these warriors face every day.
Providing Warm Meals and Equipment to Over 600 Warriors
During this trip, the Foundation, along with a dedicated group of volunteers from Arizona, provided warm meals and essential equipment to over 600 IDF warriors, approximately 30% of whom were women fighting side by side with their male counterparts in these challenging environments. These meals and supplies were not just about sustenance; they were a symbol of unwavering support and solidarity with those who risk their lives to protect Israel.
Spending Time with Heroes
Perhaps the most meaningful part of the trip was the opportunity to spend quality time with these amazing warriors. Volunteers shared meals, handed out equipment, and heard the soldiers’ stories firsthand, leaving an indelible mark on everyone involved.
