Make a Difference Foundation has teamed up with Connections & Links: From Trauma to Resilience to support their efforts to strengthen residents of the South of Israel with psycho-educational workshops.
The terror and tragedy of October 7, 2023 continues to exert profound traumatic effects on Israeli’s in general, and on the inhabitants of southern Israel most acutely. They include the seemingly endless disruption in their daily lives, the acute loss of any sense of security, and the ongoing worry for our soldier friends and family members in harm’s way battling the terrorists in Gaza. In addition, for the more than 120 Israelis still held captive in Gaza. Today we all mourn what we’ve collectively lost and privately wonder if we shall ever again feel whole.
For years before that black day, Israeli’s in the south, including a generation of children, have succeeded in living, playing, studying, and working with the ever-present threat of incoming rockets and mortar fire from Gaza signaled by the blare of sirens. This long-endured reality is now but a memory of inconvenient-though-terrifying interruptions that seem almost trivial in light of the current national nightmare from which we seem unable to awaken. And once more, C&L is needed to do its part to help victims of trauma regain their sense of equilibrium and vitality.
Connections & Links: From Trauma to Resilience helps victims of trauma regain their sense of equilibrium and vitality. Our evidence based approach, with over 20 years’ experience, shares psychotherapeutic tools through workshops, movement, songs, and emergency tool kits including dolls and cards. Our trained facilitators do the following:
- Instruct communities and individuals (adults and children) under threat how to identify their innate abilities to enable coping.
- Exhibit ways to activate and amplify well-being.
- Demonstrate ways to eliminate reactive modes of thinking which may be harmful or unnecessary, and instead to focus on resources within our bodies which activate pleasant sensations, thoughts, memories, and reduce stress.
- Teach mindful awareness of physical sensations in relation to music, emphasizing feelings of release and hopefulness produced.
